Got to LA and jumped in a taxi and headed to The Orbit, where I am staying. My room was coolio, I was pleasantly surprised. . . .
A quick squady shower and I was out the door investigating. . . The guy on reception recommended a few places, so I thought I would check them out. . . A place called Farmers Village. Nice shopping / restaurant area behind a proper market. . . Found myself in a nice bar / restaurant with some friendly staff. Had some soup and a few beers. . . Came back here later for evening meal. Quite nice cus you can sit at the bar and eat. . . !
So in the evening, I walked around, ate there and ended up in this bar. . . If I am being honest, I had got myself a little drunk. . . ! Happy days!
Got up early in the morning and wanting to make the most of the day, I got showered and headed out to this really nice café I had seen. They have 100’s of teas. . . And free WIFI Internet access. . . I needed to update my journal from before the new year and photos, etc. so I sat in there for a couple of hours and was chatting with my sister and Dave online, so didn’t get much done!
Not wanting to be indoors all day, I headed back to my room, picked up some bits and decided to head to Santa Monica. It was recommended to me by the lady on the plane. . . Thanks!
It was awesome. . . Gorgeous beach, really hot out of the wind and just a really relaxing time. . . I seemed to walk forever!
I did however land in an English pub (Ye Olde Kings Head), really nice staff, I just needed to sit for a bit, anyway, the Guinness was splendid! And the barmaid gave me the password for their internet access, so I took the opportunity to update a few things. . . Well 3 pints of Guinness and a very nice plate of fish n chips later, I left feeling very happy with myself, having nearly got up to date with things!
I hit the beach again and walked for what felt like miles. . . Then headed up to the main shopping street and had a cuppa tea while watching some street performers. I bought some nice Quicksilver sun glasses, then headed back homeward. . . I stopped off at the Farmers Market place and had a quick beer in the friendly bar place where I ate before and did a bit more typing, before walking back to the hotel. And oh yeah, I want this noted: My Ma n Pa called me from their holiday. . . absolutely hammered. . . Bless em. . . 2.15am and slurring down the phone at me. . . So, I wondering where I get my drinking habits from. . Nice one!
I am now sat on my bed typing all this, so I think I am up to date (Yippee).
Tonight, I think I am gonna head over to Sunset Strip, I think that’s famous?! But before that I have gotta try and get all this sand out of my hair. . . Doh!
Hhhhmmmmm. . . Sunset strip. . . Well, not impressed, that’s all I will say. . . I suppose it is like anywhere, you need to have a bit of local knowledge to know where to go! The taxi driver dropped me at a crap club called Roxy, where this band where playing. It felt like a youth club come family reunion! Needless to say I had one beer and legged it. . . I seemed to walk for miles and miles, before finding a place that you felt comfortable eating on your own! Nice people working there, but they messed up my order, so I had to wait ages! Pretty much summed up my night!
After eating there I headed back towards home and to the quite cool bar that I went to before called ‘Dime’, but it was rammed. . . ! I manage to get a seat at the bar and sink 2 pints of Guinness before I realized I didn’t want to be here! I didn’t like the music and it was too hot! I wanted to be with my friends in NYC. . . . .
Still I was tired, so headed home and crashed! I woke up dead early, so got up and showered and packed my bags again, I had a plan!
Santa Monica!
Yep, that was the plan. . . Now, I mentioned the English bar – Kings Head, Right? Well I failed to mention that they were advertising the Liverpool vs. Arsenal game starting at 9.15am. . . . Needless to say that I am sat here now feeling very happy with my decision. I have a had 2 great pots of tea and a full English breakfast! Yum Yum!
The games just finished, very good match, end to end stuff, with Arsenal winning 3 – 1, with 3 awesome goals. I support Liverpool, but Arsenal were awesome and Henry’s goal, well. . . . Top draw!
Gonna chill on the beach again today in the sun then head to the airport tonight fo Fiji. . .
So Ciao for now and I’ll catch ya laters people. . .
