Mancs on Tour
Greetings from Kathmandu. Arrived safely last night after a short flight from Delhi. As it was 9.30pm and as there is currently a curfew from 2pm we were escorted to the guesthouse through about 15 armed checkpoints which was all rather exciting! Seriously though, did not feel threatened at all and they were actually waving at us. I suppose they are really glad that tourists are still visiting. We have had a walk up to the main square this morning. We already love it here. Curfew at the moment so we are in the guesthouse. It is fine though as there are lovely gardens etc and lots of places to eat. We are planning to head North in a couple of days to trek in the Himalaya.
Weds 8th September
We arrrived In Pokhara yesterday (8 hrs by bus from Kathmandu). It is lovely here, set beside a lake with wonderful views of the mountains. It is very chilled. We hired a rowing boat on the lake today which was lovely. We are planning to do The Annapurna base camp trek in a couple of days. It takes 12-14 days and supposedly has the most intense scenery in the Himalaya. We are very excited about this. Will let you know how we got on on our return. Nepal is fine at the moment. Curfew finished the day after we arrived in Nepal so everything is safe.
