Hey Everyone!
Well blogfans, after sleeping in 27 hotels, hostels, apartments, camp sites, wandering around aimlessly for 168 days, 24 weeks, 4032 hours, 241, 920 minutes, doing 4th february twice - once In Fiji and once in the USA, visiting 12 major cities, spending countless hours on buses, taking 15 flights and Going from East to West and visa versa across the USA and Australia, we have reached the promised land, the emerald city, our final destination, New York City!
""These streets will make you feel brand new. The lights will inspire you!
Hear it for NEW YORK!!"" Woop!!
Had a nice chilled out flight. Tim was kept busy. He was sat next to a woman working for Apple - who was sending emails to Cosmopolitan mag regarding a new ipod app.
Took the subway to our hostel.. that was an experience.. with a suitcase. Fun times!
Staying one road along from Time Square - awesome location!
Been keeping really busy:
Did the customary check out of M and M world :) 4 floors!! You can literally have any colour of M and M you want!
Checked out Hershey's massive shop yum!
Our walking tours of cities this trip have brought some of our best days, and yesterday was no exception....we walked for hours around Manhatten. We took in all the classic tourist sights, Empire State and Chrysler Building (amazing and beautiful), Central Park, where we saw all the ice skaters, Trump Towers, Rockafeller, Times Square (its even better than on the TV!!!), Bloomingdales (for Ro's sanity and dreams of future clothes purchases on shopping trips which don't happen after a six month trip) and the biggest store in the world - MACY'S!- very old school/traditional - even the escalators have are wooden!!Walked down fifth Avenue, Madison Avenue, Broadway, Wall Street which was much smaller than you'd think!!
For Tim's sanity we went to the massive NBA store and spent some time shooting hoops and generally gawping at the size of the place.
I fell even more in Love after Tim agreed to do the Sex and the City tour with me (I paid most of his ticket :P) That was awesome - the bus took us all over the differnt suburbs and we saw loads of famous sights. Stopped in a couple of locations - one being Scout Bar - had to have a cosmo and went along to Magnolia Bakery - they do the best cupcakes! Sorry I couldn't bring any back for you Teri!! Saw Henry Bendel/ Tiffany and Co/Bloomingdales and all the top designers.
.
Saw the LOVE sculpture and all the people practically having photoshoots in front of it! hehe.
Took the ferry over to Staten Island and got some fab views of the city.
Saw where the World Trade Centre used to be and the new memorial site currently being constructed.
And so that brings us to now, almost home time! We cannot wait to make your eyes and ears bleed from our thousands of photos and millions of stories, a fraction of which have made it onto our blog site. Publishers have been beating down our door asking us to be travel writers. Have a look at our new photos and vids if you haven't already.
Thanks for all the messages since we have been away, its been great hearing from you!
Favourite country: New Zealand
Best food: Thai food we had in Surfers Paradise, The Hangi meal (food cooked underground) prepared for us in New Zealand and the food we had lovingly prepared for us every night in Fiji .
Best trip: Great Ocean Road
Worst bus ride. The many hours we drove around New Zealand - so many winding roads, not fun for a coachsickie.
Best people: Fijians for their hospitality.
Things we have found out: Everyone generally hates the British and nowhere does shopping quite like home.
Best day: Visiting Universal Studios in LA followed by the Lakers vs Spurs game at the Staples Centre.
Our next trip: Eastern Europe and South America
Best beer: Fiji Bitter
Random Trivia: Friends was never actually filmed in New York, neither was Will and Grace - they were both filmed in LA.
Best waterfall: Mckenzie Falls, Australia.
Did you know there are now Blogfans across four continents?!
So bloggettes, we may be in touch one more time for a reflective blog, depends how much you beg for more, but if not, we'll be seeing you all in a matter of days/weeks and will recount a million and one tales in great detail!
