Sat 5th April 2008 - Terminal 5 We survived terminal 5 but only just.It had nothing to do with the problems BA had been experiencing since the grand opening, but more to do with an inept cab driver. We decided to leave home a little earlier than necessary to arrive at T5 in good time and hopefully avoid a potentially stressful situation. The driver chose to go to Heathrow via the M11 which was closed between Stansted and the M25 junction due to a major accident! The road had been closed since 8.30am and as we didn't leave Cambridge until 11.00am he should have known (he actually said he had checked just before picking us up).Eventually I called home to see what was going on as we were still sitting in the traffic trying to get back onto the M11 at Harlow two and a half hours later! Eventually we arrived over three and a half hours after leaving home, all having kittens that we would miss check in.However we didn't and fortunately the operations at security went smoothly. We then sat on the plane for two hours while we first waited for a couple of transit passengers, then for the ground staff to unload 3 extra bags which they discovered had been put on the plane! Finally we touched down in Tokyo and were pleased to discover all our luggage had come with us!!
