Hong Kong - 15th June 2008We arrived here in the evening after around and hours delay.Selina came to meet us and we went back to the flat where John and dinner were waiting. The cloud cover had been fairly thick even at 39,000 feet, so it wasn't much of a surprise that the monsoon season had arrived early!Monday morning we arose to thick cloud, thunder, lightening and of course monsoon rains! We still headed out (armed with brolly's) for central to check out the shops. After visiting the jewellers we met up with John and Selina for dim sum lunch. The afternoon saw us visiting William in the camera shop. Then after a damp trip on the star ferry over to Kowloon we walked up Nathan Road to see how many suits, watches and copy handbags we were offered!Rob was slightly disappointed that he was only offered 9 suits on previous trips it was more likely to be around 30-40!The Hong Kong island skyline doesn't hold the same charm when the sky is heavy with clouds, but it is still very impressive in my opinion. We met Selina when she finished work and headed off to Lan Kwai Fong which is the bar area.Even though it was Monday evening the place was buzzing. After a trip to an irish bar ew went to the Ice Bar where we donned fur coats and indulged on a little binge drinking.A few vodka shots later we staggered out and headed to a Korean restaurant. After dinner it was back to the ice bar for another session, finished off by a vodka jello and a final pint! This was probably the most alcohol we have consumed at any one time since we left home! We have decided that Selina must be a bad influence!!Tuesday saw us head off (still raining) to Kowloon where we visited the flower market, bird market before heading off to ladies market where we were able to practice our bargaining skills - such good fun.A junk trip was planned for the evening so went back over to the island.Whilst we were waiting for the other guests the winds got up and the rain continued to come down. The trip was still on as the boat captain thought the journey to Lamma Island would be fine.We headed out into the bay and the boat began to rock and roll, the waves got bigger and bigger.Several people began to feel queasy, but once again no-one was properly sick apart from me!The weather got worse so the captain decided that it wasn't to be and the boat was diverted to Aberdeen (on Hong Kong Island). As I still felt rough Sue and I headed home and the others went off to the Jumbo floating restaurant for dinner.Rob and Rich had a great time, Sue and I dined on sandwiches we found in the fridge which had been prepared for the next days fishing trip!Wednesday dawned with a brighter sky.John had a day off work and the boys headed out to the fishing lake in the New Territories.Sue and I jumped on the bus and went for a session at Stanley market.Sue had a great time saving a few dollars on her purchases. We spent most of the day shopping at leisure.Sue was a bit worried about how fast the bus driver goes around the bends especially when we were up in the hills overlooking the bays etc.All part of the days fun! Dinner was an Indian feast prepared at home by Ding with instruction from Selina - it was as always wonderful.
