After another continental breakfast in the black smoke-filled breakfast room of our hotel, we retired to our room to wait for a decent hour to go see my grandpa again. We brought him two photos of Holly and Brookes' dance photos and the crafts Brooke and Cooper had made for him which i have to say survived the trip remarkably well. Big plans today are to go see Aunt Liz and Uncle Frank and show Liz that Coopers' cuddle blanket is the same one she sewed for Holly as a baby gift 12 years ago, although now it is in remarkably less good condition. Then it is off to the Shaw Centre and then rockhunting, followed by dinner at their place. We got to their house at around 12:30pm and spent some time just visiting. It was so wonderful to see them after so many, many years. Their home was a neat surprise as it is a carefully kept step back to the maybe 1970's with appropriate wall coverings, carpeting, furnishings, etc with everything in clean, pristine condition. I especially loved the teak sideboard. So we passed some time in this neat and comfortable home before heading out to the Shaw Discovery Centre. It was only a short drive away and is such a neat place filled with anemones, varieties of fish, starfish , and representations of all the under the sea life found the area off the West Coast. The kids sat for a story and did a craft and then they were able to touch some starfish, very carefully with their pinky fingers. We then walked next door to a Mineral store where, for ten dollars a small plastic ziplock bag, the kids could each dig through large amounts of tiny varied polished stones and fill their bags with their favorites. I got in the spirit as well, as I filled a bag for Holly. I really appreciated Aunt Liz having thought this out and finding interesting fun things for us to do together that would keep the kids' attention and this was a great day. We walked there and back along a beautiful boardwalk overlooking an ocean inlet filled with amazing boats, to our parked van. Supper back at Aunt Liz and Uncle Franks' home was all the more pleasant with the addition of Lizs' daughter, Cindy. Brooke helped Cindy put the tablecloths on and set the table and Cooper helped Aunt Liz make the salad of which he ate none of. The fettucine with homemade Alfredo sauce and chicken was perfect (Cooper ate almost everything on his plate if you needed evidence of how good it was) and the dessert of strawberries and ice cream was a great way to end a great day. We were astonished to see that seven hours had passed by and so we called it a night, which was a smart move as after two minutes in the van, Cooper was down for the count. Laundry is in so we have something clean to wear tomorrow and we hope to head out to the lagoon and the museum too see the Imax Dinosaur movie before taking Grandpa out for his birthday dinner. We are missing Holly and when we spoke to her tonight she was so excited to tell us that her auntie Heather had given her highlights!! Thank you so much :). We are happy that she is happy and the photos look great.
