Another late start to the day. James is downstairs rustling up some peanut butter and toast and hot chocolate to bring up to us in the room. We will hang out here until about 9:45 am before heading over to grandpa's. We don't have to be at Frank and Liz's until 4 pm so we will fill our time with looking at boats and some more sights of downtown. We stayed at Grandpa's for about an hour for our final visit. He enjoyed watching Brooke and Cooper play with their toys on his carpet. After hugs all around, i promised him i would send photos from the visit, and then we said goodbye. We just finished an enjoyable walk around the inner harbour dreaming about buying a boat and looking at all the handcrafted jewellery and woodworkings being made and sold along the walkway. Stopped and purchased some gorgeous handmade beaded bracelets from a kind woman who said she learned the native art from her mother who,at 80 something years old, is still making beaded chokers and sending them along with her daughter to sell. Realizing we were right beside the beautiful old Empress Hotel, I hatched a plan of us all attending their afternooon tea. We peeked at the delicious menu and thought it seemed a splendid idea....until we were informed it was 55 dollars an adult and half that per child..sigh. So, it is back to the hotel with our overspending selves to do laundry and have Subway for lunch. This is actually probably a better idea, as Cooper has not been feeling well all day. Laundry is in and James is lining up an afternoon of work when we are back in Winnipeg. After a long nap from Cooper and a call from Aunt Liz wondering where we were (she had thought we were coming out for the afternoon), we made our way out to their home. Cindy was there with her lovely daughter Kate and we sat down to a delicious cold supper with a fancy blueberry dessert. The company was great and we sat for almost two hours talking which was so nice. Leaving Uncle Frank to hold down the fort, the rest of us headed out for a walk to the park. We also went for a short walk onto a small island nearby to see whereabouts Liz used to work and to look at the boats. It was really cool out and the moon was a gorgeous three quarter moon and there were herons and tall pine trees growing at varying angles to the waters edge. We were eventually driven home by the giant goosebumps forming all over my arms and the shards of teeth falling from my mouth from all the teeth chattering. James took some photos of us and then we said our goodbyes. So glad to have seen them, so grateful for them feeding us all the delicious things they made, so thankful for their company, and a very special thank you to Uncle Frank for giving to me an antique leather Wampum bag made and hand embroidered by the Cree Natives of Northern Manitoba that his and my Mothers grandfather traded for or purchased from the Cree as a young man. It is in outstanding condition and truly will be treasured.
