Exploring the known and unknown
22 April
To write about an interesting day, sometimes only a few lines will do. Blog writing is time-consuming and often done late at night and into the small hours, occasionally to be continued early in the morning.
In 2013, I started with the first blog and found that for days on end I only managed to score 6 hours of sleep, which in the end I got used to.
Keeping things short has it merits too.
As for today: In the morning I updated the blog as I was several days behind (and still am) after which we went to have lunch in one of the smaller local eating places in town were Amber (Michael's partner) joined us for a short time.
After lunch, we went to the town of Sanyi which is less than 20 km away. Sanyi is famous for its woodcarving culture. The local woodcarving museum is well worth a visit as it displays the most interesting pieces which are unusual, to say the least. I will let the pictures tell the story.
We left all the woodcarving shops for what they were and went to view the nearby Liyutan Dam. The water was running across the weir providing a great photo opportunity.
By 5 p.m. we headed back towards home to have dinner at one of the local restaurants. By the way, food is good and there is a good variety at very reasonable prices. Most streets have several eating places. What makes life easy is that it seems that every second corner consists of a 7/11 Store (for those in countries which don’t have them, they are a 7 day/24-hour mini supermarket which also sell several food lines and very good coffee!)
