Exploring the known and unknown
Leaving Johannesburg gave us some headaches as the GPS map Idownloaded from the Internet gave us some trouble. For some reason it avoided the freeways and lead us up the garden path and further… about 100 km further. First we headed for the city inspirit, a beautiful city with nice boulevards and pretty streets. We stopped at a shopping centre and found that Woolworth were the small players here while Spar and Super Spar are the dominant grocery retailers. Most food items are cheaper than in Australia and the displays where magnificent. Actually – not that good as many things are not covered and they still have salad bars with just a open glass cover (long banned in Australia.)
Leaving Nelspruit , the GPS send us in a the wrong direction as the setting had not been adjusted to included toll roads. Although the drive lead us through most magnificent gorges and past waterfalls we were heading in the wrong direction. In the end we decided to head back inspirit and find accommodation before nightfall. From this position it is only 35 km to the Paul Kruger National Park (see next page)
