Day 4 Port Macquarie –Nelson Bay 497 km
Back to the Oxley Highway with its 500 plus corners. Once you reach the top of the mountain range the land opens up and long sweepers await you. I couldn't help it – I just needed to do it again - I slowed down when the needle hit 210 km an hour. In Germany, it would be ok but here it is always dangerous as you never know what is coming out of the bush or the long grass. At a certain spot, I saw a fresh carcass of an animal which I could not recognise. The long hair made me think of a fox but later I heard that a rider had hit a goat side on and almost slit it in half. Lucky that they were able to stay on the bike!
