I know that I've been really slack keeping my blog up to date but between tourist attractions, travelling on long distance busses, bad internet connections and the odd hangover it feels like keeping your homework up to date! Will do better, I think the saying goes in all my report cards.

Anyway from Hanoi I took a two day excursion to see the sights of Halong Bay. you basically join about 15-20 others on an old boat cruising round the area stopping off at various islands. I didn't have too much time, so i opted for a shorter tour. As you can see from the pictures the scenery was great and we had some time for the caves and visiting a floating village where i did some kayaking. At sunset we all settled down for some sundowners which is where you'll see that rather fetching catalogue pose with the Hanoi beer ;-)

It had been raining heavily in Hanoi so when the sun started blazing as soon as we arrived it was a welcome relief. WE did get warned about the cockroaches and rats that would be on board, but luckily I only saw one rat. Unfortunatley it was on my way to bed. I reckon I was on rat watch for about 2 hours before I finally drifted off to sleep!

It's back to Hanoi, then straight off to Hue next.
