I'll be keeping these a lot shorter from now on as the internet is getting gradually worse. Anyway I've been here for quite a few days longer than intended due to a school boy error in not applying for my Indian visa before I set off on my trek to Annurpurna Base camp. Originally I was all set to go to Everest Base camp but there was a plane crash at Lukla which caused some severe delays into the start point for the trek. In fact I was just about to board my Everest bound plane when it was cancelled at the very last minute due to bad weather. So rather than turn up at the airport each day in hope I diverted to Annurpurna.
Anyway Kathmandu is a pretty hectic place, don't come here if you suffer from migraines as the constant car horns in Thamel will tip you over the edge. The day after I arrived there was a festival in Durbar square that I went and had a look at, and it was quite interesting to see the various sacraficed animals dotted about the street. Also I found out that a new living child goddess has been installed in her little home only the day before and that's why there were lots of people in a queue to get blessed. Being a westerner though my name wasn't on the guest list.
Other than that it's bookshops, internet cafes, and craft shops. took a 2 day white water rafting trip whlst waiting for my Indian Visa to come through, but apart from that I've just been hanging out. It's been ok, but I'm itching to get into India.
