12/1/10 - day 34.
got up around 8, feeeling surprisingly good considering the lack of kip and the rum in take from last night. andrew and i ahd arranged to meet lester and go to a local beach that day called las peñitas. lester failed to show up for the time and place arrangd so i told andrew i was gonna go rather than wait around as we had no means of contacting him. andrew joined me and we after struggling to find where the bus to the beach leaves from, we left about 12pm. again, making plans with others has its downsides. had i been moving independently, i would have been at the beach much earlier and and made a full day of it. as it was, we didnt get there til half 1.
sat next to a HUGE man american man, blaine, 58, on the bus. he had a coat on and he was dripping with sweat and i began to feel quite nauseous looking and talking to him so i had to look away during while chatting. he was telling me that he was going to move to nicaragua "because i´m so fat, i can no longer afford my $1000 a month health insurance". his words not mine. why he had to share them with me though, i dont know.
the beach was nice, black sand though which is always a bummer as it´s like walking on hot coals. met a german couple when we got there (michael and conny) who were really nice and really funny. we spent the day with them and ate had lunch and a few beers with them too. andrew decided to stay at accomodation at the beach while me and the germans got the last bus back to leon about 7pm.
there were so many kids walking around on the beach trying to sell necklaces they had made out of shells. after saying no to them once, they were just happy to have a chat with you and stuff, they must have been between 7 and 12 years old, and were very friendly. maybe it was part of their sales technique!
when we got the bus back to leon, we walked back to the centre, and i bought a big bag of fruit on the way, before we went our seperate ways. i got to bed about half 9.
