After our "safety breifing" from a very stern German girl at the hostel we nearly decided to hole up inside for 3 days!!! However we did manage to brave it and go out and wander the streets of Valpariso a few times. It is a real mix of smart, ex colonial buildings, usually hotels or resteraunts and painted houses clad in corrigated iron. It does however have a lovely feel to it with street art and mosaics everywhere amoungst the higledy pigledy streets and loads of steps as it is built on the side of a hill!

We also visited Pablo Neruda´s (Nobel Prize winning author) house which, like Valpariso, is all over the place with loads of nooks and crannies and views of the sea at every turn.

Tonight we return to Santiago to explore, something we did not have time to do on our last 2 visits!
