Hello Everyone
In Nha Trang which is a coastal resort in Vietnam and just had the most amazing mud spa treatment. There were several different pools for us to go in and now we all feel very chilled and relax. It only cost us 100,000dong which is about $5. Compare that to the UK prices for just a manicure! We needed this after a very bumpy but fairly good night sleep on our first over night train. We were in tourist class which meant 4 bunks per room. Then it becomes six bunks per room and then just chairs! We left Ho Chi Minh last night at 8 pm and got in at 5am this morning. We headed straight to the hotel and managed to get a few hours sleep before heading off to the spa.
Haven't see much off this place yet but seems to be the main holiday resort for locals as well.
Yesterday we went to the Cu Chi tunnels ( not the chi chi tunnels as I was calling them!) We were told they were a 20 min ride away ----2hours later and we finally arrive. We watch a film about the hostory and then go to go around the complex and even into one of the tunnels. They have been made wider in order to fit the taller and fatter westerners that visit. I lasted about 50 m in of the tunnels before taking one of the exit. So hot and so narrow and had to crouch the entire way. Goodness knows how they survived down there for so long. They had lots of very nasty looking traps set up for the americans and differnet ways of tricking them into their where abouts. Some of the guys decided to shoot AK47's but the girls felt it was a bit weird to do this after seeing was deverstation such things can do. From the tunnels we went back to the citty and to the war museum. This was quite an eye opener - the pictures wer every grusome though and did not show the american in a very good light at all. It was hard to see the impact after the war to the children born whoc parents had been involved in chemical bombings etc.
So all in all yesterday was very interetsing but also very heavy. We said goodbye to some of our travellers yesterday and other joined. We are now down to 12 people and i have my own room :).
Tomorrow we are off on another boat but this is more a party boat with a floating bar and happy hour. We are then catching another train to somewhere near Hoi An and then a 3 hour bus to Hoi An. Once again the train will get in in the early hours of the morning. One weird thing about the train is about 10 min before you reach the station they close the toilets so that the waste does not go on the track ---which is sort of the key time when people normally need to loo....oh well you get used to these weird asian ways. In Hoi An lots of the guys are going to get suits made and dresses for the girls. You can also get rings and necklaces made so I will be in my element and might get one made to remind me of my trip in Asia.
A Danish couple who joined our tour recently have done the treck I am doing in North Thailand and they said it was quite hard...so I have all that to look forward to in about 15more days. Fingers crossed the situation does not get any worse in Bangkok and I fly back there on the 24th April. I should be fine as long as they don't close the airport again. The tourist industry was affected so badly last time - it really is not worth their while again and they miss out in the end.
till the next time...when I migth have a new sparkly ring :) bye bye xxxx
