Charlie turned 4 today. Thank you for all the texts and messages. Mandy decorated the caravan last night with balloons and happy birthday banners. Charlie woke up to a party van. We free camped at Lipson Cove last night right on the beach. It was fantastic and aside from another van we were the only ones there. I forgot what it was like to go to sleep hearing the waves crashing and to wake up to the roar of the ocean. Driving into the steelworks at Whyalla. I was lucky enough to be given the inside tour looking at the blast furnace, coke ovens, steel making and rolling mills. It was awesome seeing hot lava steel, sparks flying etc, just as you would imagine a steel processing plant.

We've arrived at Whyalla on the Eyre Peninsula. It's a really interesting place and mostly focused around mining and steel production. We have friends here, Joel and Jess and their two boys Nate and Jyi. Joel works for One Steel as a maintenance engineer. He has a staff of 70 maintenance workers. Today I planned to make my boss jealous and catch a heap of whitting and snook. Instead all we caught were puffer fish! Not to worry we had a great day on the water. The weather was perfect, just the tide wasn't good for fishing. The kids and Mandy went out in the morning with Andrew and also didn't catch anything. Jeff, myself and Andrew went out after lunch.
