Sorry for swift leave off on last message - somehow seem to be really busy all the time and barely managing to keep up with diary as well as emails and this blog... Last day of the Inca Trail was a pleasant downhill stroll for a few hours - because we were descending fairly fast, the landscape changed so so quickly: suddenly so much more flora and fauna and (hurrah!) so much warmer...however, combine this with having picked up a cold, and you have near total...

So we watched England make life look difficult, and headed off enroute to Cusco - we knew we'd have to break our journey somewhere random. Didn't quite realise it would be as random as camping by the side of a road to nowhere. In the freezing (literally) cold. At 4300 metres. We were up and out of there by 5:30 am, but it was quite an event...lots of people struck down with nasty altitude sickness but I was fine, apart from a 10 second jog knackering you out utt...

Well well well - how do I find you all today? From the sounds of it you're all grabbing every spare second to soak up the sun, and it's the same here... Got to Lima after Huaraz and was rather unimpressed - however, we did pick one hell of a day to arrive, being as it was Presidential Election Day. We'd been rooting for "ALAN" the whole time, given that his wall-painters had done a stellar job plastering his rather un-Peruvian sounding name all over the coun...

And now to Huaraz, where I am now but am leaving tomorrow for Lima. Amazing views on the way here of stunning mountains and extraordinary rocks formations - sat on the roof seats again and got covered in dust. Made a nice change from the miles and miles of utterly arid but somehow still rubbish-strewn desert we had been experiencing of Peru.
