Off we headed this morning for Ayutthaya. We left good and early on the twenty past eight 1st class bus, costing us the princely sum of 350 baht each, round about 17Euro altogether. The bus was much swankier, you can tell by the tassled curtains hanging above the windows. Also the TV up the front playing the latest Thai music hits (more on that in a second). Woke up early this morning, very cold night on the hardest bed I have ever slept on. I am convinced it was not a mattress but blocks.... it is lent after all!!! Those of you who were aware of our planned route might find it a suprise to discover that this entry is from Sukhothai and not Koh Samui. Today we decided we would go see number one attraction in Chiang Mai. This of course was, suprise suprise, a temple. The temple is waaaaay up on the hills so we got a taxi who told us he would wait for us while we went up the 300 steps to the temple and have a look around and then take us back to town again, sounded like a scam to me, especially since we didnt know how far up the hill the temple was.
