Hello Lovely people...
Just a quick little segment before we embark on our great campervan adventure to the Red Centre ( Alice Springs) and then down to Adelaide and Melbourne.
After finally escaping from Sydney in mid January we visited Newcastle( very dead) then moved on to beautiful Port Stephens where we camped for the first time ever.. it was good our campsite was beautiful and the staff were amazing!! Also the resident kangaroo was the cutest thing ever. We saw koalas in the trees and the sand dunes and even managed to squeeze in a wine tasting tour!!!
After that we continued north and went to Bellingen a small town north od Sydney which boasts sub tropical rainforest and an alternative community... we cycled 12 km to a swimming hall which was freezing but fun to swim in.. Bellingen was relaxing and really fun despite the rain.
Next came Byron Bay where we stayed for two weeks. Not the nicest place in Australia.. a bit Agia Napa but the clubs arent as good. It also rained most of the time we were there so the activities we could engage in were limited. We moved on the Surfers Paradise which is really tacky and just more of the same... you dont really need to travel accross the world to have the experience just go to any beach resort town.
We went volunteering for a week near Surfers Paradise In Tallebudgera Valley in the hills.(see Photo) Green, lush and beautiful.. we helped a couple with housework and gardening foe a week in exchange for a bed and food... Lovely couple Karlee and Smokey took us in and tried to show us around the area as much as possible.. maybe we'll get to see them again.
Two weeks ago we arrived in Brisbane with the purpose of continuing our way North to Cairns.. we wanted to see the beaches and tropical islands and the Great Barrier Reef.. However its the raining season at the moment in the tropical north so most of it is flooded...hence the decision to head inland where the weather is still hot and it doesnt rain!!!!!
We are leaving this afternoon... more updates as our adventure continues!!!!
