Well let me see..where do I start. The first thing on my mind is just how far the dollar goes here...which is not very far at all. London is expensive. Calculate for every British Pound spent you pay 2 American dollars. Yikes.
Regardless, London is a wonderful city, bustling with a sort of aliveness that is reminescent of Chicago or New York. It even has it's weather. Yes yesterday was cold and a bit gloomy but then it wouldnt be a London experience without it. Today its clear skies. I leave for Paris today at around 1pm. from there I may just head north east to Amsterdam for a large soccer tournament has filled up almost every available room in Paris for many days now. If you want a relaxing vacation, dont travel with me. This travel is not for the timid. I may be sleeping in the train or the train station tonight.
Yesterday I toured Central London with a walking tour group where we were shown the top sites to see in London from where Tony Blair lives in Downing street to Big Ben. Met some interesting people...especially a cutie from Venezuela who I walked with for most of the trip. London is truly a coral reef of humanity with people from every part of the world, just listen and you will hear languages you've never heared before. After the 3.5 hour walking tour, I sat inside the National Theatre, listened to vocal jazz trio and spoke to a Finnish couple in which the man was an independant filmaker who documents abuse and injustices around the world. He wants to be the first League member in London. How great is that.
Sleeping in a hostel is also an experience. I share a room with 6 other people from all over the world... Austrailia, Thailand, and Minnesota... Minnesota? Wha?
Well wish me luck tonight.
