Apologies for not updating the blog for a while, loads had happened!!

I just got back from the Melbourne Grand Prix 2008 and it was fantastic. Going to watch an F1 race was on my list of things to do before I die so I am glad I can cross it off!! It was special for me as its the first time I went to watch the F1 live, I cant normally afford it but I treated myself!

Today it was 37 degrees, and I was in the heat all day. A lot of people suffered from dehydration today. It was ridiculously hot!!!! I got up early so I could get to the circuit by 9am. I walked around all the tents and found myself one of the best spots on the circuit. I sat near a corner so all the cars would have to slow down and I could take some pictures. At 9.50 am there was a historic demonstration including exotic marques parade laps. From 10.25-10.35 there was the ultimate speed comparison demonstration. This was followed by the Aussie racing cars race. Then the Aussie GT Race 4.
At 11.55 I watched the Carrera Cup Race 4. One of the highlights was the Celebrity challenge and parade which started at 12.30.

There was also an amazing Navy squirell helicopter aerial display. At 13.10 i watched the 2008 V8 supercars manufacturers challenge race. This was awesome. I made a short video of this which I will upload, they go so fast it looks like their tyres are on fire!!

From 13.30 to 14.10 I watched the Formula Ones drivers meeting, photo and parade! A bit disappointed that I didn't get a pic of Hamilton during the parade as my camera didn't focus! damn!!

There was a Blackhawk helicopter aerial display. Followed by a demonstration lap. Then a Raaf roulette's aerial display. One of the highlights was definitely the Raaf F/A-18 Jet aerial display- amazing!!!

Then at 15.15 there was the grid formation the national anthem and Qantas Jet Flyover (which came right over where we were sitting!), followed by the race which started at 15.30!

I was told the F1 cars would be loud but you have to experience it to realise just how loud!!! They are also extremely fast! After the race we went on to the racing track, and I picked up a bit of gravel as a souvenier! It was an amazing day, great atmosphere and excellent result. Couldn't have asked for more! Well maybe if it wasn't soooo hot!! :)
