After finalising our excursions to Uruguay and Salta, Jorge & Cristina took us to visit the Delta de la Plata, in the municipal of Tigre. Named due to the once presence of jaguars. The Lujan, Uruguay and the Parana rivers form a delta that leads into the Río de la Plata "river of silver" the esturay that empties into the Atlantic Ocean. It may be considered a river, an estuary, a Gulf or a marginal sea. For those who consider it a river, it is the widest river in the world, with a maximum width of about 220 kilometres and about 290 kilometres long, forming part of the border between Argentina and Uruguary, with the major ports and capital cities of Buenos Aires and Montevideo on its western and northern shores.

The "Delta of the Paraná", its name refers to group of islands and streams that make up an endless labyrinth which welcomes thousands of visitors everyday. We took a ferry ride around the Delta which took about 1 ½ hours with a commentary of information. The delta is a locality by its self with housing, schools, holiday resorts, shops, police and visiting specialists such as dentists and paediatricians on boats. No vehicles are owned and transport is via boat with each house having its individual pier.
