After 3 days travelling good to stop for 2 nights in one place. Got to Home Hill the first night and stopped at a free site in town next to railway station and found there are many trains using the line during the night. Next night was at St Lawrence showgrounds. Great site a bit further from the rail line. Last night at 1770 Campground with a site facing the inlet. Unfortunately this quality site costs $42 a night. Finally we are heading south on Saturday. The weather has been quite humid for the last week with small storms every day but not much rain. Had a visit from Kate early this month and even arranged a "frog" experience for her. While Kate was here we visited the other Kate and her family. The pavlova was part of the celebration. Still here in sunny Mareeba. The snake in the last entry was caught and measured at 17 foot 6 inches (5.33 meters). When let go he didn't hang around. Spent part of today riding in a cane harvester on the largest sugar cane farm here. Good to smell diesel and farm machinery again. Weather is consistantly around 31 degrees daytime getting down to 17 at night. No rain since July. Most of the grey nomads have left so things are pretty quiet in town. We are plannin...

Still here where the climate is great. Denny has been back for two weeks after her trip home to attend to the house and garden. I had a couple of days in Sydney this week but was glad to get back to the 30 degree days. Latest photo is of a large python sleeping on the river bank below the park.It must have got a bandicoot or wallaby and has been sleeping for several days. We are still enjoying the stay and now plan to be home for Christmas. More photos soon.
