16th-17th April
The last bit of the ferry ride was the best. For the last hour we cruised through the Marlborough Sounds which was stunning! We saw the sun set over the hills as we came through the narrow water valleys, hills and islands surrounding us at every point. It was beautiful! As the sun had just set when we got there, we couldn't see much of Picton but it just looked like a very small port town.
We stayed the night at Collins Memorial Reserve which was just a car park area at the edge of the reserve with a toilet and next to a main road, which was used by a lot of truckers. We saw the best starry sky here and were in awe all night!
On the 17th we were up early and set off on our drive to Nelson.
