our 5 hour minibus journey to the cameron highlands was very scenic.. liking it already! though i have to wear my one jumper for the first time on my trip as its much cooler here. we decided to stay at fathers guest house as we heard it was the best one around, and we are staying in the 15 bed dorm room.. sarahs first experience of a dorm so she was pretty excited! not such a novelty for me but im glad we did as we met some lovely people who we were sharing a roo...

our next stop to penang was by a 3 hour ferry ride which took us to georgetown, pretty much the centre of things. staying at travellers inn which is pretty basic but the staff are so friendly. i love them! thinking we are cursed here though! first day we thought we would relax around the botanical gardens.... caught a bus which took ages, arrived in a complete downpour with thunder (though luckily the rain eventually eased off and we could walk around) was prett...

we had to be up early for the next part of our trip - to malaysia!!! am really looking forward to seeing a new country. it was about a 5 hour minibus journey to the ferry, where we had to clear immigration and cross the boarder via sea. after a 2 hour trip on the ferry, we then had to go through malaysian immigration before we were let loose on the island of langkawi! we are now another hour ahead (7 hours ahead of home - we forgot on our first day!) we decided ...

we had to wait around on phi phi till the afternoon for our 2 hour ferry to railay. had an interesting transfer from the ferry to a longtail boat with all our bags... was rocking all over the place.. and then had to wade through the water, trying not to get anything wet! we walked across to the other side of railay, to the eastern side. not a nice beach here but cheaper accomodation.. and only a short walk to the other 2 beaches. sarah walked off to find us some...

we caught the ferry over to phi phi island which we were excited about. heard great things about the place and beaches. it was bigger than i thought, and when we got off the ferry it was like walking through a maze, with all the little shops etc. eventually we found a great place called tropical gardens bungalow. managed to get 100b knocked off the price. our bungalow has lots of character... its on stilts, mattresses on the floor with mozzie nets over them, hamm...
