We were up at 5.30 this morning as we needed to walk to the train station in time for our first journey on a Vietnamese train. Much to Tom's excitement, we boarded our train, it made a nice change after weeks of getting buses everywhere.

The Vietnamese trains have four different classes, hard sleeper, soft sleeper, hard seat and soft seat. As this journey was only two hours we choose to save some money and opted for the hard seat, which basically are just benches and no AC.

We arrived in Tuy Hoa at 9.30am and after a successful journey decided to book another train for tomorrow. This next journey is eight hours, so we booked soft seat tickets hoping for a little for comfort.

Tickets booked, we started walking into town in search of a hotel, Tuy Hoa sees very little tourists and the few it does see are generally Vietnamese. As you can imagine, we attracted much attention waking through town with our backpacks. Everyone we came across, wanted to say hello. After an hour of walking and finding very few options to sleep in we were forced to pay a little more than usual. The room was twice the price we normally pay but it was also twice as nice (it even had a bath), so with little option we checked in for our night of luxury and immediately filled our bags with the complementary toothbrushes, shampoo and comb!

Heading out for some lunch, we really struggled, we walked into one café and we asked the waitress for a menu, thinking we would just point at something and hope for the best. After five minutes she still hadn't come back to our table, we think she hoped if she ignored us for long enough, we would get fed up of waiting and leave. We did.

We walked across the road and had a little more luck, they provided us with a menu and we ordered what we thought was pork and chicken. The one benefit of it being a locals cafe was the price. The two meals were the price we normally pay for one!

That evening, we ate another cheep meal at the hotel next door's restaurant, and with little else to to here we bought a few beers from the shop and headed back to the room to watch a movie.
