Yesterday we'd been told the guesthouse offered free taxis to town so we decided to stay another night and see the town. Going to bed early last night we were up nice and early and decided we'd head to the market before the heat of the day. We had breakfast and then was told we'd have to wait an hour for the free taxis, so much for the early start. Town was nice and much bigger than we thought. There was plenty to do, the market was fun also, Tom picked up 5 T-shirts and some sun block ready for our visit to a beach town tomorrow.
We grabbed lunch and to waste a little time while waiting for the return taxis we had a couple of the draught Angkor beer, "My country, my Beer", who couldn't with a slogan like that.
We waited for the free taxis we'd arranged and managed to speak to an English guy who had his feet in a paddling pool complete with fish, Tom asked his what it was all about. He explained the fish were eating the dead skin from his feet, $3 in Cambodia, $100 in the USA, he whispered the only difference being "they change the water each time in the US, here the waters murky and full of dead fish". After hanging around for about half and hour unsurprisingly the guy at the hotel had forgotten about us so we had to find another way back. So we grabbed a Moto (normal motorbike which they squeeze three to four on), was really good fun, the guy drove the wrong way up the road, took short cuts through the petrol station, and really impressed us when we rode along the pavement for about 30 metres to avoid having to cross a road, Lucas don't be getting ideas! Getting back we planned to return to the town in the evening.
We made most of the free WIFI in the guesthouse by ringing home, made a few more plans for the next stages of our trip. Tom later discovered three two of the five T-shirts he'd bought were too small. The weather came in with heavy rain and decided we'd spending the evening watching the 1984 US film "The Killing Fields" (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087553/ for more info) based on the atrocities which took place under the Khmer Rouge. Tomorrow we leave for Sihanoukville.
