It only took 5 weeks but summer finally reared her 38c head. Boy oh boy, did i get some sweat going, but i couldnt think of a more appropriate place to raise it than Barca.
From the mesmerising Gaudi architecture and ancient narrow walkways of the gothic quarter. To the hustle, bustle and colour explosion of Boqueria markets, and 'look at me' modernity of the brown sanded beach residents, there are many different aspects to the city.
The only thing I really felt it was missing was a bit of local soul, but without a doubt that is because its peak tourist season and many of the locals clear out.
My favourite place was Park Guell on a hill overlooking the city. Filled with many Gaudi inspirations, its a fantasy walk through a desert garden with intriguing architecture throughout.
Found my way to the zoo and aquarium as well, the zoo offered plenty of previously unseen animals for myself including a toucan, 2 hump camel and giant anteater. The amazing thing about the zoo was how closely you could interact, the chimp exhibit enabled crowds to bait the monkey to splash them, and splash us he did.
The aquarium was avg. Funny for the fact that there was a dedicated exhibit to neon tetras.
All in all fun to visit, but for a spanish city I could live in, that would def be Madrid. More on that in a few days.
