"I read more maps than books..."
I've escaped London's grip for now and have been out touring in the country side. We rented a little VW and drove out to Bath, Bristol and all the surrounding little towns. After searching for a few hours we ended up staying at this amazing little bed and breakfast just outside a town called Rode. The good bed, shower, breakfast and sleep were a pleasant change. Plus the pub food, oh wow so good!
Bath was a really pretty little town. Full of really old buildings, the canal through the town centre and amazing views of the hillside with houses dotted amongst the green. We drove into Bristol and were greeted by some Banksy originals, after all it's his home town. We then went on a self guided walking tour to find some more and some other cool art. I really think it's the sort of place I might have to revisit. To much for just one day.
We got our tourist on the next morning and made our way out to stonehenge. It was unreal to look at it in real life and not in a crappy windows background photo.
Got further north from there to Warwick. Sian and Bruce work up there so we bummed a night on their couch. The Saxon Mill were they work is said to be really haunted so after ghost stories all night no one wanted to sleep.
We got up late the next day and raced into the Nottingham to see the castle and check out all the related Robin Hood stuff. The castle was good and the tour of all the tunnels and stories was really interesting.
Anyway it's back to London now, time to pick a new country to see.
