"And so it goes, so it goes..."
14 degrees local temp they called out over the PA on the plane. What! That's winter at home, damn European summer! Arriving at the airport I met up with Laura who was putting me up at her place while I was in the country. Lucky because this place is unbelievably expensive. Her place was in a really small village called Pfungen near Winterthur. I ate some awesome local food there! Loads of Swiss cheese nom nom!
Ryan arrived the next day and right away we meet up with him and Sarina to see Zurich. We walked around Zurich for a while and checked out some of the famous streets before eating and drinking by the lake. After seeing enough of Zurich we went back to Winterthur. The town was very busy with an African festival. Random as I know but it was good to eat cheaply. We then hit the packed bars as most students just finished exams. Really expensive nights out here. Just like home.
Next day we decided to check out more of the country and so we went to Luzern. More of tourist location and a chance for me to see some mountains! Luzern was another city located on a beautiful big lake. To make the most of our visit here we even stayed in a refurnished jail. Bit of an experience although maybe a little to nice to give that proper jail feel. After a few beers, loads of walking and a boat ride on the lake between the alps we trained back to Winterthur for a quiet night ready to head into Germany today. The girls asked if we wanted to swim in the lakes and I just laughed saying it's too cold, temps at about 23ish. But they were serious. I couldn't get them to believe that at home we wouldn't even contemplate a swim if it's thats cold out.
Ryan and I are leaving here by train now and it is proving a good call just to see more if the postcard country side. The photos don't do it justice at all.
