Good flight. 6 hours of sleep. 103minutes of Iron Man 2 before the captain rudely interrupted the film to inform passengers that the ground temperature in Hong Kong is a balmy 29 degrees. This made me happy.
Looking around the cabin as we gathered our belongings; I planned my dash out of the plane and toward the magical transit counter that will deliver my fate.
Rushing out of the plane, collecting all kinds of suspicious stares I scanned the terminal for anything. I was ushered towards a sign by an official who pointed at a list of names.
Pujitha Thinothy Fernando a name read. I pointed approvingly. The official sparked up; "transit counter E1, please go quick. Try for boarding pass. Quick! Follow signs to the light hand side"
I felt special; almost expected. Perhaps it's a cruel joke played by the qantas ground staff: "watch them run". I can almost feel TV cameras aimed at my skull with comedic commentators mocking my vain attempts to get back on that plane. Maybe not so special.
Follow down the 'light' hand side I did. I Jogged, maybe ran, maybe knocking people and ornamental vases over.
After spotting the leaping kangaroo I joined the queue. It's going nowhere fast. Lovely.
