Thursday : Fine
After breakfast we went back to the shop to buy lunch to eat later on. Then we rented some bikes for two days. We were going to ride around through the country side to some chateaux and vineyards.
The bikes were pretty cheap to hire €13 a day and it felt good to be back on one. We rode through Blois over the bridge and had a nice ride following the river for a while.
The path that we were taking was a 33km long loop and it eventually diverted away from the river through some really small towns and some sunflower farms, and then into a forest. It was nice riding in the forest, it was much cooler and very quiet.
The tracks were sign posted and we were following them to Chateau de Chambord. It took just over two hours to reach the stunning chateau, it was absolutely massive! It's the largest chateau in the Loire valley. The French Kings loved their country castles, the valley is full of them, there are over 300 chateaux. Chambord was built in the early 16th century and even had divinci design the double helix staircases.
We had a long lunch and rested in the chateau grounds before having a nice two hour ride through more small town and farms on the way back to Blois
Once back at the hotel we stored our bike then went to the shops to buy dinner then have a good rest for tomorrows ride.
