Waking up at Maria and Donelo's farm to the sound of milk being wheeled on a cart down to the cheese making shed. Donelo stirring and stirring the whey. Drive to put the car on the train. That's right, the cars go on the train to avoid driving the 20km winding road to the lower valley. This was quite a strange experience and fun, bumping along through the narrow valleys and then finally through s long tunnel out of the mountains and onto flatter land.
We went to Bohinj Lake, a glacial lake that is much larger and less developed than Bled. I think it's one of the largest lakes of its type in Europe. The walk around the lake is easy and peaceful with plenty of places to stop and rest and enjoy.
Then on to Bled for a fabulous lunch and view and a relaxed walk. Bled is a glacial lake, quiet and still with a castle overlooking the lake which makes it feel quite restful and takes us back to quieter times.
On to our next farm stay. The horse farm. Rough and hard night with horses underneath kicking their stalls. This was not the best but definitely a farm experience.
