We finally got to Muang Khua, where all the western people on the bus were stopping for the night. Ludivine and I shared a room next to the river for £1 each, we had to share a bathroom too, but that was no biggie. We dropped the bags off and walked around the small town for an hour or two. We'd both brought dollars to Laos so we exchanged them for Kip since Muang Khua doesn't have a cash point. We sorted out some of the people's boat for the next day and how I was going to get a bus. We met a French couple on the walk and had some beers with them. I hadn't eaten a proper meal for 24 hours so it went to my head quickly. We went back to get changed, as the temperate drops at night, and headed for food. After we bumped into people on the bus, they wanted me to catch the boat with them and were disappointed when I said I couldn't which was nice, it was tempting as it was a good group and the small towns the boat stop in sounded amazing. It was a pretty early night for me and Ludivine as we both hadn't slept in 36 hours.
We got up at 7 and had breakfast. I left to get a tuktuk to the mini bus station, the bus left at 8.30. I couldn't find the tuktuk until 8.40 so thought I'd missed it. Luckily the bus was waiting for us. I found a seat next to another French lady. There were so many people that bags full of fruit and veg were piled inside and on the top of the bus and people sat on stools in the middle of the isle.
After a few hours I got to Oudomxay. I booked another ticket to Vang Vieng to meet back up with James. I had some time to kill so walked around the small town and found WiFi to let people know I was still alive. Again I was the only westerner on the bus. It was a full size bus but still had people sitting in the isles. After a long-ass trip I was in Vang Vieng. Got a tuktuk to the guesthouse and woke up James to let me in.
