Wahoo Day 1 of the XMAS ROAD TRIP!!! So we head down to the Aloha Car rental place at 9am after our not so comfortable night in Hotel Discovery and get everything sorted with the car. And of course just to my luck it's a chavvy white colour - perfect for picking up every speck of dirton the road!! So after a quick food shop we hit the road, first heading out of the city through the pouring rain on to Hepburn Springs, The spa centre of Victoria. After a stroll around the springs and tasting the soda water - not nice L we head on to Ballarat, a bit of a disappointment but a worthy break to rest my legs after 4 hours of driving. After here we headed straight on through to Halls Gap, the gateway to the Grampians.

As we started to reach the lowlands of the edges of the park, some things started to hit the front of the car, we had no idea what they were, pollen? Moths? When we reached the YHA Halls Gap we realised what they were….. Locusts! Swarms and swarms of them it was disgusting! Every step you took outside of the car they leapt up at you. I had forgotten that I had read seen a story about the plague of locust in the news and how they are eating and destroying all the crops. Disaster. So once we reached the beautiful eco hostelwe settled in and made our dinner for the night together. What a feast, we ended the evening with a game of cards and a bottle of wine.
