Another bumpy bumpy ride we soar through the mountains just stopping for food and arrive at Kathmandu at around three. The journey was interesting seeing families preparing for
The dashain fstivsl, skinning goats and buying new clothes for all the family members. Instead of our faithful chai chai we hear men tring to sell chips and water squeezing them through the windows of the bus. We eventually reach Kathmandu wig some close calls with the bus on the edges of busy roads high up into the mountains, I was happy to be on solid ground. Rain! The first rain since Delhi was hanging over kathmandu like a grey blanket. we hiked 10 minutes to our hotel (moonlight) in the refreshingly cooler weather. A late afternoon orientation, rupan walked us down to the busy durbar square where we wander inside the living goddess house, where a young 5 year old Nepalese girl lives in sanctuary. The four of us plus Will and minus Rupan go for dinner at metro a local restaurant (with good cocktails) walking through the bustling streets of Thamel (backpackerville). So easy to get sucked into the leisurely attitude of coffee shops and Market stalls. We then head back strolling through the backstreets.
