What an awesome day! This morning we met our local guide Alex and headed to the Brazilian side of the falls. First stop was the bird park which was great. They rescue exotic birds from nightclubs etc and rehabilitate them. They had all sorts of things including several different toucans, macaws and parrots. Today was truly awesome! Just before lunch we arrived at the Estancia Las Mercedes which is a working cattle ranch in Argentina. The ranch is owned by a family who are decended from NZers and Spaniards. Over time it has been a coffee plantation, Mate plantation, horse ranch, cattle ranch etc. The people that run the place are lovely and the ranh itself is absolutely gorgeous! Managed a few hours sleep on the nightbus last night but still pretty tired when we arrived at San Ignacio. We were given a couple of options for extra activities while here, either kayaking or mountain bike riding. Today was a relaxed one. I caught a bus out to the thermal springs. Out there I met up with most of the other tucan group and we lazed around in the hot pools (although at 33'C we really didn't need heating up). After a soak I had a 1 hour massage and a facial which went for almost an hour. The whole thing cost less than $75! Back in town we headed out for an early dinner (by SA standards).
