I'm home - and this is my last entry ever :(
Luckily the second flight went really quickly and before I knew it I was waiting for my backpack at the carousel in Heathrow. It was so surreal as I don't think it had really hit me that I was home.
Walking into arrivals I could spot my mum a mile off because she was wearing a bright orange top, and running towards me whilst crying. I was still in a bit of a daze for most of the day - it definitely didn't feel real for a few hours!
I can't believe how quickly all that time has gone, it feels like only a few weeks ago that I was waiting for the Eurostar at Ashford to take me to Paris, and now I've managed to finish my contract there and visit ten countries I've never been to before (if you include Hong Kong airport, which I am)!
I think my highlights are probably the temples of Angkor, the Thai islands, visiting Raffles in Singapore, snorkelling in the Great Barrier Reef, partying in Byron Bay, exploring Melbourne in the sunshine, the incredible scenery all over New Zealand, bungy jumping in Taupo, the atmosphere in Queenstown, and of course Colin the Campervan.
I would also like to say thank you to everybody who took the time to show us around, have us to stay, and take us for very much appreciated meals on our travels, including:
- Parn and family in Chiang Mai
- Gina, Martin, Rose and the rest of the sisters in Singapore
- Linda, Phil, Jon and Anna in Newcastle
- Sian and Neil in Canberra
- Gail, Andrew, Dorcus and Donald in Wellington
and I'd also like to say 'hi!' to all of the people we met along the way and had some great times with, special shout outs go to Keith Martin and Rosie Kenny!
I am really happy to be home but so glad that I have spent the last seven months doing two things I never thought I'd do - be employed by Disney and travel the world with a backpack. It's definitely been a year I'll never forget!
Thanks to everybody who stuck to reading my blog, which I admit must have been very boring at times, It's good knowing my efforts to record my day to day movements around Paris and the world have been appreciated! And of course, thank you to Vicky, Vix, Hannah and Sophie for being fabulous travelling companions! Especially Vicky, who for fifteen weeks put up with me 24/7. A mean feat, Taylor, congrats.
Now...time to look for a job!
