A milestone was reached today, the tripometer reached 10,000 Kms since we left Sydney. We drove over 600kms today from Broome to Port Hedland. Port Hedland is kind of interesting but only in that it is a purpose built mining town. Everyone is wearing high vis work wear, they even sell it in woolworths. We have spent the last 2 days in Broome regrouping (re-stocking and washing) and also getting a teensy little issue with the car looked at - hmmmm. We swam at Cable Beach with brown jellyfish during the day and at night we tried our luck fishing off the Broome jetty - nothing. Geoff and I woke early for sunrise and went for a dip while the kids were still asleep. Mid morning we drove to a beach with beautiful shells and before we knew it an hour had passed with Geoff and I as into shell collecting as the kids - its very therapeutic!! Whales were splashing around in the water this morning while we had breakky. Then we teamed up with one of the families we had met yesterday and we drove down the beach looking for Bundys secret crab and fishing spot. We found it eventually (all sand dunes look the same) we threw out some lines but no luck. The kids took their spears and made friends with 2 local aboriginal boys and went hunting for mud crabs. Today was awesome and Benjies favourite day of the trip so far. We spent the day with an aboriginal guide making spears and hunting for mud crabs as well as learning more about aboriginal culture. Our guides was named Bundy and he led us and 2 other families into a place called Chillie Creek. Bundy also had his 2 young kids with him.
