Geoff got up early and went jigging for squid off the Denham jetty but again no luck. We hit the road for a long drive today (Denham to Jurien Bay 643kms) only stopping for toilet and lunch breaks and to see the wind blown trees in Geraldton. We keep hoping the kids will have a sleep in the car but it hasn't happened yet. Benjie was well prepared if it did he didn't want to take his pyjamas off today so he wore them all day.

A lady in the bathroom told me WA stands for Windy Always. I am starting to think she was right! However today is not as windy as yesterday. We set the alarm (haven't done that for a while) so we could get to Monkey Mia for the first dolphin feeding session. Woke up exhausted after last nights drama. Still windy today. We drove to Denham which is in Shark Bay. On the way we stopped at the stromatolites which are single celled microbes which are the earliest form of life on earth - 3000 million years old. Way too much for the kids to comprehend! The next stop was more up their alley - shell beach. A beach made entirely from shells - no sand, just shells which was quite amazing. We spent the afternoon wandering around...

We spent the morning on the beach, the fantastic thing about Coral Bay is that you are able to snorkel straight off the beach rather than have to swim out. So it is perfect for the kids. Then as we were packing up the camper we got talking to an old timer who told us about a great beach fishing spot around the pylons of the old jetty. It was an adventure packed day today. We started the day with a walk along the beach to find the reef shark nursery which we didn't find but we had a nice walk anyway.
