The weather was much better than yesterday so I was straight up the Empire State Building, if there's anything I've learnt from travelling it's that as soon as the sun comes out, you go up the monument/hill/building.
There weren't many queues at all and so I was up there within fifteen minutes or so, although quelle surprise the leaflet from the hostel was out of date so I couldn't get my $2 off the entrance fee. Going up in the lift it was full of the English again; I think we must be the main proportion of visitors in New York. Quite breezy out on top, but so sunny that I had to put my sunnies on and look like a poser in the photo. There's also a photo of the woman's foot who took the picture, which will be evident until I get home as my camera still won't delete.
After the heights of New York I made my way to the sights of Times Square, this time going into M&M World where I ended up buying a decoration again and a candy tray that I was quite impressed with. I then walked across the street to the Hershey's store where I had to get something with New York emblazoned on it to match my Chicago Hershey's purchase. I got a little carried away though and bought that and some seasonal kisses and a Reese's bowl that I'd seen last year in the Niagara Falls store and finally succumbed to. Oh dear. Needless to say my shoulder was a little sore carrying these purchases as well as a few things from Old Navy. How quickly I've gone back to my old ways of pre-travelling.
As fuel for all my walking, as the chocolate I bought will be consumed by the Smiths of 24 mainly rather than me on this trip, I went to the pizzeria near the hostel and tried a cheese calzone for the first time. My gosh it was big. And full of cheese. So full. I didn't eat again that day. So full.
