Day 86 21st feb
It's about 4am and I'm awake.... This is not particularly unusual, the unusual aspect is that I'm not alone.... Shiree is also awake.... The local cats, that can't muster up the energy to even open there eyes during the day use the cool morning air to settle the differences, and there's obviously been a rift in the camp for some time. An hour of protracted screeching and meowing doesn't appear to of resolved anything so Shiree, who's stood on the toilet seat in order to see what's going on decides its time to intervene by launching a shampoo bottle at them from a opening in the bathroom roof and thankfully it works... Approximately ten cats scarper all at once and piece is resumes for the rest of the night....
We get up to a very relaxed start to the day in the end, despite the feline alarm clock disturbing our nights sleep and wonder on down for breakfast on the decking under the shade of the palm trees in a scene worthy of a postcard. Having had a couple of drinks last night I forgo the available musli in favour of Ham & Eggs on toast and it was spot on...
From breakfast we spend an hour or so in the room before residing by the pool until lunchtime....
Having had another good Phad Thai we leave Shiree to sunbath and go off for a wonder... I leave the hotel via the road entrance and walk around 1 km into the local village.. I mooch around and buy some biscuits... The tea in the hotel is nice, and the biscuits will go nicely with them.... I walk back towards the hotel along the road, and notice a pathway down to the beach so off i go... It's a bit of a back alley but does lead me onto the sand which I use for the rest of the walk back to base... Local fishermen are hard at work within the shallow waters with there nets... They have a 100 meter long net that's slightly curved in place and are noisily trying to drive the fish into it by banging on the side of there boats with sticks....
We're are both really enjoying such a relaxed end to our travels and the hours slip by unnoticed, and before we know it we've had lunch and it's approaching dinner time....
We have a telly and DVD player in our room, and there's a large collection of copied DVD's in the hotels communal area so we grab one and head inside......
We leave the room later in the evening to go to the opposite end of the beach to get an evening drink in "Pirates Bar" as the sun sets. Pirates Bar is the location of the local beach party, but there are non scheduled whilst we are staying here... The bar is positioned directly on top of a collection of large smooth rounded rocks that go out into the sea.... There's a large decked area above the water with a few props down to the sand...
The bar area is located upon the rocks and the seating area is on the decking where a selection of Indian style triangular cushions and mats are scattered around... The decking has been cut around some of the large rocks which now protrude above decking hight creating more seating areas...
Theres a narrow strip of sand that's used as the entrance path before concrete steps within the rocks create a staircase up to the decking level... It's really nice and very laid back, and judging by the photos it gets pretty busy on "Beach Party" nights.... We have a couple of cocktail and retire for an early night... All this relaxing is hard work....
