1770 was great I soooo wish I had more time there. The first day I enjoyed the sun on the beach as it's been so wet all day and freezing at night I needed to warm me bones up! However it wasn't just laying sunbathing, there was a kids aqua-thon on so I joined in the fun and shouted for all the kids and donating money to them buying delish hot-dogs! The next day I had jumped on the free town tour which took us to the local market first, quite a few strange characters selling a few strange things! Next we went to a view point of the town of Agnes water, awesome! We then went to the town of 1770 and got to go to a view point over the bay, it was truly gorgeous. We also seen a house for sale, nothing more than a shack with an outside loo and no running water inside! It was valued at $2.2 million This trip was obviously a sales pitch, but it was great and you respected the fact it was a small out of the way community who rely on tourism for an income, however you knew you weren't being ripped off 'cause everything was soooo cheap! Deffo worth the detour this place. We had already booked the Scooteroo tour and our bus to Airlie the same night so unfortunatly we couldn't book anymore tours. Scooteroos was great fun (but cold so take a jacket even if it's glorious sunshine) We all (40 people) jumped on our mini choppa motorbikes and went on a 4 hour long cruise of 1770, finishing it off with photos, potato wedges, beer and sunset on the rocks, perfect.
I spent my first couple of days in Airlie looking for work I had a couple of free nights accommodation to use before I went sailing so tried to use it wisely! With no luck and even less money in my pocket I jumped aboard the vessal which was to be my home for the next 3 days-WINGS. This trip was definatly worth the money and more. The boat was posh, the crew was fantastic, the fellow sailors were great fun, the food was delicious, my bed was queen size and the weather was dry up until our return journey to Abel Point couldn't of asked for anything else. The first day we went up to an island and snorkeled the barrier reef (my 1st time on Barrier reef) It was amazing as you think it is. On the evening we had a dinner fit for a king, and watched a slide show of all the photo's that had been taken that day
The next day we got to go to 2 different sites which were amazing again but we also got to go and view Hill Inlet then we trekked down to the famous Whitehaven beach. The sun came out, we played silly team games and took loads of great photos. When it was time to return to the boat Billy the deckhand had cooked up some tasty nachos drenched in salsa and cheese, mmmm. That evening we had steaks, sausages, salads, etc mmmmm. We even got cake with sauce on. The 3rd day was an early morning snorkel and back to the harbour by lunch time. We were all sad to part as everyone had a great time and got on really well. The weather is crap at the moment
so we all decided to meet up and get drunk tonight! The crew even got a table reserved for us in a pub, class.
