Day 7 - No shower. Swam in the Nile.
We visited the temple of Soleb, built by Amenhotep III this morning before it got too hot.We got back in the boat and sailed across the Nile and climbed up to the temple. We had the whole place to ourselves and just sat around in the temple chatting and answering peoples questions.I managed to find the relief of the king worshipping himself as a god and told the group to expect even grander things from Egypt.
I think today, was supposed to be a drive day, or at least it would have been if the road hadn't been so great. We left our bush camp late and hung around in the town of Arbi, some groups had to get some food, so they did some grocery shopping. My group had to do nothing, so we just had beans at some local café.
I ended up sitting in the dust outside a general store, with Siobhan, Kristel, Aaron, Breda and Sarah.Dave and I were bored, not a good combination.Dave started throwing small rocks at Siobhan and then at me.I sat there trying to throw them down his shirt.
We left the town and drove to a bush camp on the Nile.Kath and I went straight in and most of us just sat in the water for the rest of the afternoon.
We managed to put the rug out and Yngvar, Cate, Siobhan, Dave and I ended up playing this strange, but funny card game called "Killer Bunnies". It was a bit windy, so we had to collect rocks to used to hold the cards down.I was having another, "What the hell am I doing?" moment.I'm sitting in the middle of the desert in the Sudan, playing Killer Bunnies in the dark.
