I do love this little island. It reminds me of being shipwrecked, or something out of the series Gilligan's Island, or better yet, Pirates of the Caribbean. If only Captain Jack would come walking along the beach…..Saavy?
I went down the L'Hermitage beach early today, before it got scorching hot, to do some snorkeling. I managed to get my flippers and mask on and off I went. The reef was good, but nothing like Sharm. I did manage to see a small puffer fish and this other large colourful fish who kept swimming towards me and then backing off. She even head butted me at one point. I say she, as she was probably only about as big as my foot and she must have been protecting babies.
I snorkeled for about an hour and then went and sun baked on the beach for another hour. I then walked back via the town, a little bit more was open, including the shopping centre, so I went in and bought, beer, chocolate and BACON flavoured Pringles. Stocked up for the rest of the week!
I then went back to the hotel for a bit of a nap and then went out again for dinner. I went to this street vendor who spoke really good English (almost no one here speaks English, they all speak French), I got a pizza from him and another beer and went back to the hotel. It poured with rain on the way back and I got soaked. Which I didn't mind as I was sweating, its so humid here, it was a welcome shower.
After I had eaten my dinner I went and sat in the bar and asked for a Jack Daniels. They bought me half a glass full! I then asked them to top it up with Coke…Whoa it nearly blew my head off. Love it. Off to the Volcano tomorrow!
