Super early start this morning, leaving at 6:00am is not fun, but it was necessary as the train that I usually get at 8:05am does not run on a Sunday, so I was stuck with the 7:05am train.
We boarded the train, which was considerably more run down than my usual train and about half an hour in conductors came round and made us buy seat reservations. I knew we would end up needing them! That was nice and embarrassing as I didn't have enough Polish zloty to pay for the group and had to reimburse them all later.
We got into Krakow at about 12pm, which was nice and early. I gave the group about half an hour to freshen up before heading out on the very short orientation walk. I always make this a short one so that we have enough time for the passengers to go and pay for the salt mines tour, if they are going on it and I can pay the local operator for the included tour to Auschwitz.
I have also started to make these orientation tours my own, in the middle of the Krakow orientation, I now stop for ice cream at my favourite ice cream shop, which everyone seems to love. On arrival in the main square, I took a photo with the group to post on my friend Lisa's facebook wall, Krakow is her favourite city.
I then let the group go for lunch for an hour and I had the most amazing ribs and wedges at The Mexican. After lunch I met back up with the people who were doing the tour to the Salt mines and put them on the bus. I then had the rest of the day to myself. I spent most of it in my room at Hotel Abel watching movies on my laptop, but decided to venture out at about 7pm for a slice of pizza from the shop up the street. You get a massive square of pizza with garlic sauce all over it. Glad I'm not sharing with anyone, the smell was unbelievable!
