In Africa, there was desert madness....no on the Trans Mongolian Railway, there is Train Crazy...
I love my job.
I woke up on the train this morning at the Mongolian border at Sukbaataar. We sat there for about three hours before the Mongolian customs guys came on the train and stamped us out of the country. We then shunted across to the Russian border where we waited another seven hours for the Russian border guards to get on with sniffer dogs and also stamp our passports into Russia.
During the crossing we had a great game on UNO, which I insisted on trying to Sabotage Tom, who remarked that my tip was getting smaller and smaller. By then end he said, "I'm going to spit in the envelope when it comes around!" After that fiasco we had another three hour wait until the train took off. I think we were all a little stir crazy after our ten hour border crossing fiasco, so out came the vodka.
I went into the next cabin, with Tom, Sarah, Catherine, Moy and Ally and proceeded to help them drink their vodka. It all got very loud and we ended up drinking about five bottles of vodka. We didn't have enough cups and Tom was drinking out of a Pringles container and someone was passing around a tin of pears also spiced up with vodka and we were drinking vodka and pear juice out of the tin.
Things started to get really mental, when I realized the group had Gummi bears marinating in vodka in another cup. Moy was then forced to lay down so the Gummi bears could be slurped off his chest. I managed four, more than anyone else…well I am the leader here. The Gummi bears just about finished me off and I went back to my cabin and went to bed with the whole world spinning.
