Today, was a hard day. I had to get up at stupid o'clock this morning after last nights toga madness to take people to the Vatican.
I walked everyone down to the bus stop and got them all tickets and got on the crowded bus into Rome. Unlike my Tucan clients who are used to this kind of crap, these passengers were nervous and didn't appreciate the public bus at all, I must admit, at that time of the morning, being stuck standing, on a bus in the Roman traffic didn't appeal to me either.
I got to the end of the line and met the guide and handed the group over, I also met Aldo who is the manager of the guiding agency and went sat in a coffee shop with him for a while and got the low down on how things run here. I then walked off to go have a look at St Peters. I managed to walk the long way around the wall into Vatican city and it took me a good hour. I spent about that again inside the massive church and walking around the square. I think I'm destined to always have sore feet every time I visit Vatican city.
I went inside St Peter's Basilica and saw Leonardo Da Vinci's Pieta and the staircase leading down to the tombs of the popes and the tomb of St Peter. I then got the bus back to Camping Roma, again getting a little lost on the way. The bus took about an hour to get back in the awful traffic, but at least this time I had a seat.
Once back at the campsite, I immediately went back to my chalet and grabbed a towel and headed for the pool and that is how I spent the rest of my work day. It was so nice just to have the rest of the afternoon to myself, working on my tan. I'm so happy with my life.
I met the others at the pool bar and had some more free drinks and then went off to dinner in the campsite restaurant.. I decided to have an early night as it is a long drive to Venice tomorrow.

Mum Funny isn't it, every time I have been to Rome (4 times) I have ended up with really sore feet. It must be all the cobblestones.
