We have reached our final stop the island of Phuket, we had originally planned to fly from Bangkok to Phuket but we decided to take a bus and save ourselves $160 so we got bus tickets that only cost us $20 and we got on the bus in Bangkok at 6:30pm and it was a sleeper bus so the seats reclined so that you could sleep the plan was sleep through the night and then at 6am get on a smaller bus and arrive in Phuket at 11am, that was the plan but things don't always go to plan, it took a few hours to get out of Bangkok there was loads of traffic and then at around 11:30pm one of the back tires on the bus exploded and we had to pull over we got out of the bus and the tire was in pieces so we had to wait until they got a new tire on the bus, 1 hour later we were back on the road I hadn't been able to fall asleep yet but once we were back on the road I was out I slept through most of the night, we got woken up at 7am told we had to get off and swap busses but we had now missed the bus we were supposed to get on and had to wait two hours for the next one, we had to go to a bus stop to wait for the next bus and we were loaded up into the back of a ute there was about 12ppl including all our bags in the back of this small ute 15min later we got to the bus stop and we waited, finally the bus appeared and we all got on but we didn't stay on for long there was no air conditioning in the bus and the heat was unbearable we all got off while they tried to get the air con working but they couldn't get it working so we got our bags off and had to wait for another bus, when that bus appeared we got on and made our way down to Phuket it was now 11am and we should have already arrived but we had another 4 hours in the bus, when we finally arrived in Phuket the bus had dropped us off in Phuket Town and our Hotel was on the other side of the island at Phatong Beach so we got on a mini bus and 1 hour later we arrived, it was now 4pm and had been on the road for 22 hours but it was good to know we were finally in Phuket and we have the next 8 days to stop moving and relax, our hotel is really nice were right across the road from the beach and its close to everything, I had heard there have been a lot of people mugged and murdered in Phuket so were being really careful of our stuff, I think 90% of the tourist population here are from Australia there are Australian flags everywhere along the beach and once the sun goes down the night life is crazy streets are closed from traffic and there are people everywhere, its pretty hard to find a place to eat for every one restaurant there are 15 bars, we had diner at a irish pub and watch the F1 qualifying and were going to eat there again tonight to watch the F1 race.
This morning we got up and had breakfast and then went to the pool and sat in the sun for a while before the sun gets really strong, we went out walking to get familiar with the streets and see if we could organise some day trips to some smaller islands, we went to loads of tour shops and we have booked in three day trips in and around Phuket tomorrow we going charter boat fishing for a day and visiting some islands around Phuket and then were going to relax the next day and were then gonna go white water rafting along with riding a elephant threw the jungle and then were gonna go quad bike riding, we also got a day trip organised to go snorkelling at Phi Phi island so we got some stuff to keep us busy the next few days.
