Guatemala is a beautiful country covered by a great many mountains and volcaonoes. In Antigua we hiked up Pacaya Volcano and enjoyed watching the sunset while smoke billowed out of the crater above us. On the way down we even saw the glow of lava erupting from the crater which made our day. We departed Antigua at 8.30am heading to San Pedro near lake Aititlan. We seemed to be making good progress when suddenly we came to a halt at the bottom of a hill.
